Strategy in Action
Strategic communications requires knowledge of the client’s goals, the target audience/market/stakeholder’s needs, and the ability to identify and present mutual benefits.
Some Pro-Textual examples are:
- Wrote the strategic planning document Extending Horizons for Associate Vice-President Research, U of S.
- Developed information and strategic material for UBC Faculty of Medicine’s expansion and wrote feature articles for their biannual alumni/research magazine.
- Co-author of A Framework for Action: A Four Pillar Approach to Drug Problems in Vancouver for The City of Vancouver. Since publication, many “harm reduction” policies have been adopted provincially and nationally, and the document has been distributed internationally and translated into Hindi, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Spanish. The document and policy informed the popular television series Da Vinci’s Inquest.
- Wrote, edited and was creative director for The Robson Street Preview, an editorial/entertainment hybrid publication developed to promote Canada’s first downtown retail entertainment centre and to quell negative publicity around the redevelopment of a heritage building.
- Acquired corporate sponsorship for the Kootenay School of Writing and Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design.
